Awkward Elephant

This piece is about Social anxiety. It is something I have always suffered from and I am sure many people here will relate. I am now 24 and still experience mild bouts of nervousness when in large groups or when away from home for longer than just a few days. I also struggle to engage with people as well as build and maintain friendships, part of this is lack of confidence but, though I hate to say it, the other part is lack of wanting to. I believe the people I know and love have helped me build in myself a confidence which occassionally comes to the surface and I am very thankful for that. Over all these traits make me who I am and keep me fairly grounded which I have learned to appreciate (nobody likes a big ego!).

So I'm drawing again (my last drawings were 2005/6 since photography took over and all my old drawings are here in my DA gallery!). So obviously the drawing is about the 'Elephant in the room' which is an expression used in England when there's a tense atmosphere, there's some background to the expression on Wikipedia here [link]. I wanted to keep it fairly monotone and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out (especially the elephant )
